Comstar 500GB external harddrive power failure

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 04/20/2009 - 02:19

Product worked well initially, but I did notice that the power switch seemed a bit spongey. After having the drive for a few months it was working okay and I leave it running all the time anyway so no problem. Then a few weeks back the drive was not on and I found that the switch would not go into the on position without much tweaking. Finally got it to stay on and then left it like that until the other day and it quit again, this time the switch could not be manipulated to get the drive to work. So I ended up having to remove the drive from the case and install it into my PC which worked. I figured I had the drive for a maybe 6 or 7 months. In trying to find a replacement power switch I found that Comstar is not very highly regarded. If I knew this at first I would have bought a different manufacturer's product.
